Meta sets the rate. You decide what you send.
Every platform pays Meta the same price. What changes your bill is how much you add on top, and how many messages you waste.
Pay Meta’s rate, nothing more
We add 0% to every message. Your only charge from us is the plan, so your bill stays the one in this calculator.

Now that replies are billed past the free tier, every message counts. A chatbot with buttons and quick answers settles a question without the back and forth.

WhatsApp charges, answered.
What businesses ask about Meta’s bill before they start.
Tell us what you send on a quick call, and we’ll estimate your bill and the right plan.
Or see the plans →How much does WhatsApp charge per message?
It depends on where your customer is and the type of message. In India, Meta charges ₹0.8631 for a marketing message and ₹0.115 for a utility, authentication or service message, plus 18% GST. In the US and Canada, it is $0.025 for marketing and $0.0034 for the rest.
Are WhatsApp replies free?
Not any more beyond the free tier. Since 1 October 2026, each WhatsApp number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and Meta charges for every reply after that. Eligible government and non-profit organisations are exempt until 31 December 2027.
Do customers pay anything when they message me?
No. Messages from a customer to your business are free. Meta only charges for messages your business sends, and only when they are delivered.
Is there a way to send messages free?
Yes. When a customer messages you from a click-to-WhatsApp ad on the Android or iOS app and you reply within 24 hours, Meta opens a free entry point window, and your messages in it are not charged.
Does UpScaleUp.io add a markup on Meta’s rates?
No. You pay Meta’s rate for every message and we add 0% on top. Our only charge is the plan.
Why might my real bill differ from this estimate?
The calculator uses Meta’s list rates. Utility and authentication get cheaper at high volumes through Meta’s volume tiers, messages inside a free window cost nothing, and some one-time passwords sent across borders cost more. Rates are charged by your customer’s country, so a mixed list needs a blended estimate.
