Step by step
Set up Onboarding Automation
Create from Lead Automation → Onboarding Automation → Create Automation.
How it runs
Processed about every 15 minutes. Triggered when a new contact is added or matches group/tags rules.
- 1 Eligible contacts get Message 1 immediately (0 delay).
- 2 Later steps send after the configured delay from the previous message.
- 3 If Stop on reply is enabled, a customer reply ends the sequence (Stopped).
- 4 Delivery failures retry after 24 hours, then 48 hours; after a 3rd failure that step is skipped and the sequence continues.
Manage Onboarding Automations
Hub list: Your Onboarding Automations. Dedicated index: Onboarding Automations.
- 1 From the hub: View, Edit, or Delete. Toggle Active on the Edit screen.
- 2 On the detail page review Total Contacts, Active, Completed, Stopped, the Message Sequence, and Activity Logs by step.
- 3 Excluded groups block start even if the contact is also in the Target Group.
Tips
- Keep the first welcome short; space later steps (product tip: often ≥4 days) so you do not overwhelm new contacts.
- Test with a small group and Stop on reply enabled before enrolling everyone.
- Personalize templates with contact and custom fields.
