At a glance
Overview
- 1 Open Manage Contacts. Filter the list by a group (or No Group) when you need a focused view.
- 2 When creating or editing a contact, click group pills to assign or remove membership — use New group to create one inline.
- 3 Pin up to 3 groups on the pills so your most-used segments stay at the top.
- 4 Select contacts (or Select all / select everyone in the filtered group), then Bulk Actions → Add to Group, Remove from Group, or Delete Contacts.
- 5 Configure Automatic Un-subscribers on the same page so opt-out replies move people into the Un-subscribers group.
Step by step
Groups, bulk edits, and opt-outs
Work through each topic in order.
Create, assign, and pin groups
Contacts can belong to multiple groups. Pins are personal shortcuts (max 3).
- 1 Open Create or edit a contact and use the Groups pills on the right.
- 2 Click New group, enter a name, and Add Group — then select the new pill.
- 3 Click the pin control on a pill to keep that group at the top of the list (up to 3).
- 4 Save the contact. Use the group filter on Manage Contacts to show only that segment.
Bulk add, remove, or delete
Faster than editing contacts one by one when cleaning lists.
- 1 Optionally filter by group first, then tick contacts or use Select all.
- 2 When a group filter is active, you can select every contact in that group in one click.
- 3 Open Bulk Actions and choose Add to Group, Remove from Group, or Delete Contacts.
- 4 Confirm the target group (for add/remove). On delete while filtered to a group, contacts only in that group are removed permanently; others are just removed from the group.
Automatic Un-subscribers
Opt-out phrases move contacts into the special Un-subscribers group and strip other group memberships.
- 1 On Manage Contacts, expand Automatic Un-subscribers Management.
- 2 Toggle the feature On or Off when you want to pause auto opt-outs.
- 3 Add trigger phrases (up to 20) or use suggestions, then save — matching inbound replies move the contact to Un-subscribers.
- 4 Review the Un-subscribers group before campaigns so opted-out people stay excluded.
Tips
- Use groups for campaign and automation audiences — there are no contact-level tags (tags exist on CRM notes only).
- Un-subscribers is system-managed; treat it as your opt-out list, not a marketing segment.
