- 3 Pick an approved template, fill any media and variables, set audience (bulk) or confirm the contact (single), then send now or schedule.
- 4 Open Campaign History to watch Pending → Sending → Completed (and Failed / Cancelled when they apply).
- 5 Use campaign detail for message-level statuses, export, cancel (if still scheduled), retry stuck pending rows, or duplicate a successful run.
Step by step
How to send
Bulk Schedule Campaign, single-contact Send Template, then history and follow-ups.
Schedule Campaign (bulk)
Page title: Schedule Campaign — send to multiple contacts. Audience is groups and/or All Contacts, with an optional segment.
- 1 Click Schedule New Campaign (from Campaign History or the create page).
- 2 Enter Campaign Name. Under Target Audience, select one or more groups — leave empty to include All Contacts.
- 3 Optional: pick or create an Audience Segment (filter rules on contact fields) to narrow who inside that audience receives the send.
- 4 Choose an Approved template. If the template needs media or carousel card media, upload it. Map Template Variables as Static (same for everyone) or Dynamic (contact fields).
- 5 Optional: set Schedule Date & Time (empty = send now), configure Quick Reply button actions (Text Reply or Chatbot Trigger), and Retarget Settings for automatic retry of failed contacts. Submit with Send Immediately or Schedule Campaign at …
Send Template (single contact)
Started from Manage Contacts → Send Message or Inbox → Send Template. Audience is fixed to that contact.
- 1 Open Send Template and confirm the Sending to banner shows the right name and number.
- 2 Enter Campaign Name (defaults to “Message to …”) and optional Tags.
- 3 Select an Approved template, then fill media and variables the same way as a bulk campaign.
- 4 Optional: Schedule Date & Time. There is no group/segment or Retarget panel on this flow.
- 5 Click Send Campaign, then track the run under Campaign History.
Campaign History & detail
List, filter, and inspect every run. Message statuses: pending, sent, delivered, read, failed, cancelled.
- 1 Open Campaign History for totals (campaigns, messages sent, avg. delivery/read) plus Best Performing / Needs Attention.
- 2 Filter by search, status, template, target groups, All Contacts only, date range, or sort.
- 3 Open a campaign for the timeline, progress counts, live updates, Messages table, and What this error means (Error Guide).
- 4 From the list or detail: Cancel (pending scheduled), Export Messages / Export CSV, Delete, or Duplicate (bulk only — pick groups and a new run time).
- 5 If messages are stuck pending, use Retry. Child campaigns created by Retarget show a Retarget badge.
Tips
- Start with a small test group before a full blast.
- Only Approved templates appear in the picker — finish Message templates docs first if the list is empty.
- Failed rows often mean invalid numbers, template/media issues, or Meta delivery limits — open What this error means on the campaign detail, or see the Campaign & WhatsApp error codes guide for every code.
- “Healthy ecosystem” / error 131049 means that contact’s marketing inbox is saturated across brands — wait and retry, or use Retarget; it does not mean your whole campaign is blocked.
- Audience Segment rules target a subset inside the selected groups (or All Contacts); they are not a separate “selected contacts” picker on the bulk form.
- Retarget schedules a follow-up send to retryable failures after the delay you set (1–90 days).
